Three weeks?

It doesn't feel like three weeks. Anybody still around. I don't know why I haven't been blogging. I've been busy, but not that busy. I've got stuff from January to get out. It's like Blog constipation or something.

Anyway - quick update and a haiku...

The Indy trip is off. Not happening. Lots of people were apologetic about it. And when I found out, I was left with a weird mix of feelings.

And the haiku...

All day long I write
Clever haiku in my head
I don't write them down

Last Night's Haiku...

I can't fall asleep
Winkin', Blinkin', but no Nod
Now it dawns on me

Still Holding...

Still no word on my future travel and whatnot. Limbo sucks. But I've actually been getting a lot done. Michael's been here doing stuff. And we've been doing both joint and individual projects. Tomorrow we wrap and store the 12' artificial Christmas tree, lights and all. Yeah, I know it's February, but I kid you not, there is a house around the way that still has lights and a wreath up.

Rachel is working way too much lately and it's bumming me out a bit. But it won't be forever. And it's not like she has to go to Indy for 4 months or anything, so I'm trying to be patient with her as she goes through this nasty spell. And Jake will be going down to Petaluma with his grandpa to see his Dad this weekend, and I'm really looking forward to some quality time with my wife.

You know, doing all the stuff young wildly in love people our age do. And having the house to ourselves, we'll do them on the couch. Whipped cream...on our ice cream while we sit and watch all the stuff we Tivoed because she was working so much. And I even hear Grissom puts in an appearance on CSI.

What else?

Molly Ivins died. There's another one for my list. Her Bushwhacked was one of the first "political" books I read and she, more than anyone else, is responsible for my late night blog and alternative media reading. It's all her fault. And I don't know of anyone that can fill her shoes. Maybe someone was born the last time Haley's Comet passed through and we can expect a new voice in a few years. For those of you that aren't Lit Geeks, that was a refernce to Mark Twain and how I kind of think Molly was like Mark Twain. A lot of the obits made that comparison. I was just trying to do it in a little more creative way.

What else?

I asked my friend Scott if we could come visit him and see the sights in D.C. this Summer and he told me no because by then he and his family will probably be back in California. That was great news. I don't care where, as long as I can drive there, I'm thrilled. And Joe Madden is moving sort of kind of nearby as soon as he finds a desk to sit at.

I grilled some New Yorks tonight. Sort of a Michael Appreciation Dinner. Having spent the week here with him, I am confident that he will do a fantastic job while (if?) I'm gone.

Oh, and Jake got an A+ on his mousetrap boat.

I know I said I'd get some pictures up, but I haven't had the time or the patience. I'll get to it.
