It had been 20 years...
...since I'd seen the beautiful girl I went to Senior Prom with. I couldn't find the power supply for my scanner so you'll have to take my word for it. She was (and is) a year older than me. She and Carolyn and I were the best of friends when they were seniors and I was a junior. I still remember the crappy brown limo we had and the surly driver. He was made because his regular ride was in the shop and he was stuck with this monster brown thing. My Dad's '79 Coupe DeVille was nicer than our limo. And I remember him saying something like, "You might have noticed I'm not wearing a tie." Which I though was an odd thing to say. It was an awesome Senior Prom. For us anyway.
The John Belushi Memorial Blues Band played. And we went to see them all the time. And the singer, Leland (also of Lee and the Press On Nails fame) recognized us. And he danced with Elise. And my friends though I should be pissed, but I thought it was cool.
Anyway, I saw her once in college, when she was a beautiful young lady. A little hippy-ish at the time. That coming from me the Berkeley tree hugger. And I remember she had a friend with her who's name was Isis and she could not see anything without her contacts and she was a FREAK about them. I think they were in town for a Dead show at the Greek or something. So they crashed at my house when I lived on the North Side with Ted.
After that, we lost touch. But then she found my blog around the time she was going to visit her parents and she posted a comment and the next thing you know, Rachel, Jake and I went to meet Elise and Caroline and Miles at Pazzo in Petaluma for dinner.
And now she's a beautiful woman...
With two beautiful, and very smart and polite children...
And we all had yummy dinners...
