So I went down to Jake's Game Today...

..and I took the necessary precautions.

Last week, Jake pinch hit late in the game. And I got this picture...

That's generally how it's been all season. He comes in in the later innings. And we've gone to a bunch of games. Today I got stuck working later than I wanted to. And Jeff and I went down. We got there in the 5th inning. And Jake started. So we saw him in the field for half an inning. And then I got this picture of him in the on deck circle.


And then the kid who was up drove in a run, which invoked the ten-run rule and the game was over. He went 1 for 3 before we got there.

Glad I work from home...

OK, so this is freaking me out a little bit.


It's just like in the movies - the quick cuts of newspaper headlines, sick people, and social chaos that precede the apocalyptic entertainment starring Will Smith or whoever.

And I've been afraid to read The Coming Plague.

And if it's ever going to happen, it will surely start like this.

And that's about all I have to say about this for now.

Now, I have some work to do before I watch the Red Sox complete their sweep of the Yankees.

You don't know what you've got...

...until there's no hot water for a week or so. Our less-than a year old water heater crapped out last week. So there was the weekend. And then the guy came out Monday. And needed to come back today with the parts.

The elements went bad from crap in our water. And there was so much crap in the tank it wouldn't even drain. We are getting a home water filter system installed later this week.



Funny to me how we each chose to deal with it. I boiled water on the stove to do dishes and took sponge baths and hot tubs. Rachel went down to Lauren and Paul's to shower. Jeff and Jake took very short very cold showers.
